Root Beer

I had reviewed this root beer during a Cole Family tasting, but had thought at the time (along with other family members) that the burnt sugar taste and the almost complete lack of carbonation meant that the bottle was from a bad batch. So I retasted it two years later, from a fresh bottle, and there was still a very burnt sugary taste and little carbonation, but it is a tasty brew.  While the Cole family ranked it dead last in our cumulative ranking based on that bad bottle, I give it higher marks here.

Review

Sweet sugary nose.  Strong burnt sugar lead, fading to pleasant burnt sugar follow-through.  Full bodied, rich, round brew.  Not much rootiness, except what seeps in around the edges of sugar.  Luxuriously smooth, not much carbonation but I don't miss it.  Slightly chalky aftertaste, well after.
