From the bottle
"The Bennett family has enjoyed Big Bear Lake for over three decades, this beverage is a tribute to 'Life up the Hill'. ENJOY!"
Luke's notes
Apparently B. Scott Bennett makes home-made ice cream for the farmers' market in Los Angeles, and began making specialty sodas on the side. Root beer is his latest flavor after Lemon Cola and Hot Cola.
Review
Very rooty nose. Medicinal lead, which smoothes off into a cough-syrup like middle that is not unappealing. Tiny bubbles are a strong first hit. The bubbles taper off into a wintergreen aftertaste that does a little tongue burn. The wintergreen becomes more present in the later sips. A nice complex brew -- lots of things going on here -- which is fun to drink. Tastes a little like Journey Shenandoah Sassafrass with the wintergreen pumped up. Quite delicious, actually.
