Root Beer

118 N. Pasfield (at Jefferson), Springfield, Illinois 62702

This place boasts of being the first drive-through in the nation. Sam Quaisi, the owner, waited for me to show up after closing, because I had called him to say I was on the way -- talk about small town service! Unfortunately, because it was closed, I couldnt order the signature Maid-rite hamburger. But the root beer was mighty fine.
Review:
Herby nose. Maple syrup sweetness but also very rooty -- not cloyingly sweet. A more mature taste, almost a little soapy. Refreshing little bubbles add spice without burn. Some sips more rooty, others had a maple glow. Aftertaste not pronounced.
