This is a root beer bottled by root beer afficionado and soda mogul John Montgomery, who now has five locations for his Old Town Root Beer Company throughout California. We stopped by the Old Town San Diego branch (2415 San Diego Avenue, San Diego, in Old Town), which has more than 150 types of sodas including a diverse array of root beers -- including Old Town Root Beer on tap and in bottles. D-n-A stands for Dallas and Austin, John's sons (who are featured on the label -- is that every kid's dream, or what?). The recipe is similar to that for the excellent Old Town Root Beer (which I prefer to this version), but D-n-A has more vanilla in it and has a thinner mouthfeel.

Review:
Wintergreen nose. Slightly bitter lead, and less full-bodied than Old Town (its close cousin). Fruity, smooth middle (perhaps the vanilla?), slightly fruity finish, with a broad vanilla aftertaste.
