The Man behind
The Shoe
Ron Van Zyl
R36 near Branddraai, South Africa

Ron Van Zyl is a South African artist and hotelier. He is also a devotee of mimetic architecture, and The Shoe is the third piece of it he has constructed. He built it in 1990 after his wife Yvonne said she wanted a shoe. He exhibits his art, including rock and wood carvings, inside The Shoe.
