The Tractor

United Equipment, 600 W. Glenwood Road, Turlock, California

The tractor is a six room, two-story office building with 2,400 square feet of space, housing United Equipment, a heavy equipment company.  It is 2.5 times the size of the Caterpillar D6 tractor, after which it is modeled. "The owner saw a scale model of a tractor on top of a 25-story building in Tokyo, and got the idea for his own tractor-shaped building," Brenda Schmidt, secretary/bookkeeper and daughter of Harold Logsdon, who owned the building, told the Los Angeles Times back in 1987. Built mostly of plywood, the Tractor was constructed in 1976.
