Peace March
This march did not have the mass numbers of the February 16 Peace March, but the crowd was feisty and angry after the unilateral Bush attacks on Iraq beginning earlier in the week. An observation: although the news helicopters have been a fixture in the San Francisco sky for the three days before the march -- including five copters each evening with two small spotter planes -- the only helicopter in the air all day during the march (the largest of the last three days) was a California Highway Patrol copter. Hmmm. Here are some images...

The
California Federation of Teachers were in town for their annual conference, and
decided to take the afternoon off to join the march. Their chants of
"Money for schools, not for war!" pointed out the bizarreness of
states having to slash education budgets, cut teacher positions and shorten
school years while the Bush Administration is spending $80
billion to wage war.








Many people along the march route were supportive, including (L to R) the Quakers, construction workers, and hotel guests...
